We'll take our time getting to know you and your smile — here's how your first appointment goes.
- A warm welcome. Arrive a few minutes early, and our front desk team will greet you and help with any paperwork.
- Your story first. Dr. Shah will talk with you about your dental history, concerns, and goals — no rush.
- A thorough exam. A comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, bite, and oral tissues, plus digital X-rays as needed.
- A clear plan. We'll explain what we see in plain language and walk through your options, with honest costs up front.
- A fresh start. Most first visits include a professional cleaning, so you leave with a healthier, brighter smile.
What to bring
- A photo ID
- Your dental insurance card, if you have one
- A list of current medications and health conditions
- X-rays from your previous dentist, if available (we can also take new ones here)
- Any questions for Dr. Shah — we're happy to answer them all

Herscher Dentistry is in-network with most insurance companies and accepts most major PPOs.
Please note we do not accept HMOs or Medicaid. No insurance? We also accept CareCredit, cash, check, and credit cards. Call us at (815) 426-2611 to confirm your plan — our team is happy to check your benefits before treatment so you know exactly what to expect, and we'll handle the claim paperwork for you.
